Your Role at Aeroc
Aeroc is a German start-up specializing in the development and scaling of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) for the permanent capture of CO2. Our goal is to develop innovative climate protection solutions that are both ecologically and economically sustainable. In collaboration with renowned partners, we are working to establish ERW technology in agriculture, making a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gases.
As a scientist specializing in CO2 capture, you will play a key role in advancing our MRV (Measurement, Reporting & Validation) strategy. You will analyze data from lab and field experiments and develop simulation models to predict weathering rates and carbon sequestration. A key part of your work will involve assessing different rocks for their CO₂ capture efficiency. Your expertise in geochemical processes will help us precisely determine the CO₂ conversion rates of various materials and translate scientific findings into scalable climate protection solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Modeling and simulating weathering processes, particularly in relation to CO₂ capture through Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW).
- Developing measurement methods to accurately capture CO₂ conversion rates in soils.
- Analyzing and interpreting data from soil and water samples to maximize the efficiency of ERW technology.
- Developing a simulation model to predict the CO₂ capture potential of different rock types and agricultural sites.
- Providing support and strategic advice to the founding team in advancing our MRV (Measurement, Reporting & Validation) processes.
- Collaborating with research partners and stakeholders worldwide to continuously improve the state of the art.
Our Requirements
- A degree (at least a Master’s) in Geosciences, Geochemistry, or a related field, ideally with a PhD.
- Solid knowledge of geology and weathering processes in soils, particularly in agricultural contexts.
- Experience in modeling geochemical processes, ideally related to CO₂ capture technologies.
- Experience in conducting and analyzing lab experiments in the fields of geosciences, environmental sciences, or agronomy.
- High self-motivation, analytical thinking, and the ability to solve complex problems in a structured manner.
- Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to actively contribute to an interdisciplinary team.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
Our Values
- Team: We believe the team is stronger than the sum of its parts. Only through mutual support and collaboration can we achieve great things and realize our shared vision.
- Ownership: Everyone on the team takes responsibility for what they do. This attitude fosters trust, strengthens our sense of belonging, and allows us to tackle challenges together.
- Effective Impact: Our focus is on effectively slowing down climate change. We act decisively to make the biggest possible positive impact, without compromising on quality and integrity.
- Scientific Integrity: We rely on a scientific foundation and strictly adhere to all guidelines. We scale ERW technologies only when they demonstrably reduce CO2 and cause no harm. Our actions are based on solid data and a deep understanding of the impacts of our work.
- Transparency: We communicate transparently and act with the highest integrity. Our commitment to climate protection is based on honesty and a dedication to making all steps understandable. This builds trust and strengthens our credibility.
